Privacy Policy

Overview

ParaGraFX is an EPUB reader that generates AI artwork from the text you are reading. This policy explains what data leaves your device, why, and how it is handled.

Data we collect

• Book passages (text snippets) — When you tap "Generate Image," the text currently visible on screen is sent to our server to create an illustration. We do not store this text after the image is generated.
• Device identifier — A random device ID is generated the first time you launch the app. It is used only to track your image-generation credit balance. It is not linked to your Apple ID, name, email, or any other personal information.
• In-app purchase receipts — If you buy credits, a StoreKit transaction token (provided by Apple) is sent to our server to verify the purchase and credit your account. We do not receive or store payment card details; those remain with Apple.

Data we do NOT collect

• Your name, email address, or Apple ID
• Your location
• The EPUB files you read (they are never uploaded)
• The generated images (they are saved only to your device)
• Any analytics, crash reports, or usage telemetry

Third-party services

Image generation uses OpenAI DALL-E 3. The book passage you are reading is sent to OpenAI's API to produce the image prompt and artwork. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to that data: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.

Infrastructure is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. AWS's privacy policy applies to server-level logs: aws.amazon.com/privacy.

Data retention

Your credit balance and device identifier are stored in AWS DynamoDB and retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion by contacting us (see below). Text snippets sent for image generation are not retained after the image is produced.

Children's privacy

ParaGraFX is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
